[Eddie's on camera. He's grinning. This isn't meant to be public, but it isn't. He's on deck, so you can see the stars behind his head, and a greenhouse in one corner.]

Jane! Jane! JANE! [he's raised his voice. Oh no. The camera turns to some flowers - all the colours are overly bright, and quite obviously artificial, to anyone with normal sight. They're incredibly vivid, and might give you a headache if you look too long, but this doesn't seem to bother Eddie too much.]

We got a garden! [He pans across a small few beds of flowers, all in variants of vivid colours - even the leaves are a slightly unnatural green]

Brilliant. I could kiss someone.

[pause, and he realises this is public, so thinks he ought to say something.]

Um. Nobody pick our flowers. They're... there for public enjoyment.

[She knelt down, keeping her hands in her lap to keep herself from touching them. They were a particularly beautiful shade of blue.] I wonder how he did it, though. No pipes. Nothing. Just...the flowers.

[Eddie shrugged a little, and peered around the bottom of the plants,] I imagine theyy came pre-coloured, perhaps. They... might fade. I hope they don't. They're beautiful.

If they fade, we can always ask for more. [She hoped. Though, if this was a one time deal, she was going to enjoy it for as long as she could.]

We have to protect it, though. The Previous don't understand.

We can, we can.

[He nodded stiffly, and had a peer over at a yellow flower,] No, they won't. I've told them not to pick them, but I doubt they'll listen.

I'll make sure they listen. [She intended to say that rather casually, but coming from Jane, it had a very dark undertone to it.]

[He gave her a knowing look] You be careful with that, Jane.

[She stood up fully, folding her arms across her chest.] What does that mean? I'm quite careful.

I mean, don't go throwing punches around, Jane. [He stood up and looked across at her,] Just... use moderation.

[She put a hand on his arm.] I'm sure I'm capable of moderation. [Whether or not she would use it...well, that was a different story. She knelt down beside another flower. This one was a pretty shade of pink.]

I'm glad that we have the vision that we do, Eddie. The Previous see this all the time and take it for granted.

[He accepted that as an answer, and put his hand over hers for a minute, looking down at the flower she was looking at,]

It's... something valuable to us. Something they should value, but is too common to them.

[While his hand was there, she linked her fingers with his just a bit.]

Exactly. There is a lot they should value, but don't, simply because they are so used to having it. They don't know that it can all just be taken away.

I almost wish such things were so common that we could be used to having it, but... you're right.

[He smiled at her and kept a tight hold of her hand. It was... the most proper form of affection he could do right now.]

We can't take anything for granted, Red. Everything we have can and probably will be taken from us one day. [She continued to stare at the pink flower, taken in by its colour.]

For now, it's alright to be content with what we have.

We have to make the most of what we have. [he sounded just a little distracted, and paused for a moment, staring at the flower, then turned to face her, bringing his spare hand to her cheek, making her turn towards him a little, and kissing her firmly. Talking to Petronilla about marriage only made him miss Jane more and hate that he had to marry Violet]

[After a moment of surprise, she returned the kiss, blinking at him once she pulled away.] Eddie Russett, you are getting brave.

[He grinned, a little sheepishly,] I... sometimes get my nerve together. Blame the Previous.

[She kissed him again before straightening up and pulling her hand away.] Well, there's something they did right. If I blame this on them, I mean.

I think they have their moments of doing the right thing, you know. [He grinned at her a little,] I'll thank them for this one.

Good. Even if they don't deserve it. [She ran her fingers through her hair.] I'm going back inside. Are you going to stay out here? [And guard the garden...]

Should I? do you think it's a good idea? [He didn't move, but was pondering the pros and cons of this.

[She laughed.]

No. I think it will be fine for a day. I'm going to return later, but I was in the middle of reading something.

[He nodded,] Anything interesting? [He looked from the flowers to the sky,] I was trying to find a good spot for my picture, that's all.

Did you get a camera? [She deliberately didn't answer his first question.]

I'm told I can make this one work like that.

[He was a little unsure, but willing to try.]

Who is helping you? [She knew nothing about it, so she was going to trust that he could figure it out.]
