Because perhaps, maybe, I had this vague, probably futile hope that you wouldn't turn up and be rude and abusive just because you could, and actually had a civil conversation with him. That might actually show him some of those things you were desperate to teach him with pain.

But maybe I was wrong. Maybe I am stupid. Who knows? But I'd rather give you all the benefit of the doubt than assume you'll do exactly what I half expect you to and just use this chance to torment him.
