1.1.01.01.034: open returns.

[Eddie has his stiff, formal tone on.]

It seems Tommy has left. I don't know if it's permanent or not, but all evidence points to permanent.

[pause pause]

We should make sure people aren't forgotten here. Somehow.

[pause, pause. He sounds like he going to say something else, then just... doesn't.]

Is that really much when it comes to it?

They're quite a bit more significant than anything we could come up with.

[identity profile] needshumility.livejournal.com 2011-09-09 11:31 am (UTC)(link)
But the significance, surely, is coming up with something. That we put some effort into an act of remembering people.

Is this a practical suggestion, to make sure we don't forget people over time...?

If not, the journals and the memories attached to those journals feels like enough. Another constant reminder of losses wouldn't be ideal for morale.

[identity profile] needshumility.livejournal.com 2011-09-09 11:49 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, but maybe remembering the good things they did here would actually improve morale. Especially if you remember people that have succeeded and graduated more publicly than 'what is done stands'.

I have half a practical suggestion, I just need to talk to Victor.

Depends on the person, doesn't it? Present graduates-- Loki, Snape, Miss Parker, and Aleera-- are very public examples of success, but I observe little to no recognition of their accomplishments...and frankly, that's probably for the best.

Actually, with them being the only examples...

I've naught else to add, and I expect whatever you have in mind will do well.

[identity profile] needshumility.livejournal.com 2011-09-09 01:54 pm (UTC)(link)
They are, but there's even more graduates who were here and we've all but forgotten. Wouldn't it be good for inmates to see that they're still remembered and appreciated?

Once I've had a word with Victor, I'll make a proper suggestion of it.

[identity profile] puzzleprince.livejournal.com 2011-09-09 02:11 pm (UTC)(link)
It would, and I hope that's what they take from it.

I'm not saying with certainty that there's anything to worry about, but you should be prepared for a possible negative reception.

[Because inmates are so damn unpredictable and somehow he can imagine Crane taking offense.]

[identity profile] needshumility.livejournal.com 2011-09-09 03:17 pm (UTC)(link)
I've learnt by now to expect a negative reception to everything, and anything else is a surprise.
