He was alright, really. Just was a little too fond of the beigemarket. Don't even get me started on his marriage market.

Atia wants to be. There was a man here named Clapet who took a stab at homemade alcohol, but that ended poorly. I think there are more people jockeying for position in that role than actually filling it.

Sometimes people will smuggle things back from ports. Or they might get their hands on some of the cleaning supplies, for instance—although that hasn't happened in a good long while, knock on wood.

Don't their wardens check what they're bringing back? I made sure everything Victor had brought back was safe - admittedly, he's more honest than some, but... you'd have to check, surely?

Most wardens do, but some have been known to let things slip through the cracks. Make of that what you will.
