If you met my dad?

I've got nothing to apologise for, or be angry about, or curse his name for. I just hope you liked him. He's a good Swatchman.

[Warden filter, minus infirmary staff, and Narvin.]

A certain... recent incidents have made me wonder something.

Does anyone come from a world where it's acceptable to kill others if they're going to die a potentially long, drawn out, horrific death? By which I mean kill using medicinal means, with given permission and consent. Not just... using a instant-kill-gun and shooting them.

Also, I will consider anyone who informs my inmate that I asked this question as officially undermining my position.

On another note, does anyone have an inmate who's left and then returned?

[Private to Jane]

Do not mention the Green Room. Especially to Victor.

Also, Scarlet Pimpernel?

[Private to Victor]

Alright. Let's discuss Rex.

[Private to Rex]

Would you mind if I asked you a few questions about Victor?

[Coma-investigation Filter]

I'm working on a questionnaire right now. I'll have something ready very soon. Looks like we need it.

I'm not blaming you entirely, Victor. He did things wrong. His reaction was wrong, yes. But you have some level of responsibility for that - you provoked him. You pushed him and pushed him, from what I can see, with insult after insult.

It doesn't justify what he did, no, but don't think yourself entirely blameless in the matter either.

[Pause. A very long pause.] You are trying to make me believe this, are you not?

I'm trying to make you understand it, yes. I'm not putting all the blame at your feet, Victor, but I am.

I do not see why this is necessary.

Because you need to take responsibility for your part in things.

What would you have me do? I have apologised, which he did not accept.

You apologised because you were told to. Is that not true?

It was suggested, but the intent was sincere.

But it definitely came across like your intent was to... do what your warden wanted. It might have been sincere, but it came across like you were doing it to tick boxes.

Which is a fault of wording, not intent, I admit.

Can you see why it came across that way, if you read it again now?

Many informed me of this fact at the time. It was most disappointing.

I can see such things, one supposes. Yet how is one to prevent them? The people of the future are most unpredictable.

They're pretty confusing to me too, I'll admit.

But firstly, don't do it when I tell you. Just do it because you want to make things better. If you don't, don't do it.

And when you do it, instead of looking for little things to compliment him on, acknowledge that you want to apologise for what you did before, and try and have a civil conversation with him. Without... making comments on his humanity or anything. Talk about science, and things you might have in common. Treat him like a human being, and an intelligent one, and he might see that you mean it.

Perhaps you are correct in this sentiment. I may listen to your advice, but only undertaker it if I desire to do so.

I do not know if this is a good idea. Rex has no desire to converse with me.

It probably isn't right now, and respecting that instead of pressing it might be better. But one day, you might have to talk to each other in one situation or another, and then you have to demonstrate you mean it.

I will do so when the chance arises, provided that he does not undertake further evil action on his part.

If he does undertake 'evil action', make sure, if you are going to say anything to criticise the action, rather than insist he is a 'monster' or anything else.

I must do so even if this action reflects the monstrosity within him?

Yes. Talk about his actions, not how you think he's a monster.

The same goes for anyone else on board.

I'm not a fan of running away from things that seem impossible.

I walked into the dark to try and save someone from nightloss. That sort of thing is generally considered impossible at home.

So don't stop just because it seems impossible.

Did you succeed in this quest? This nightloss does not sound like a pleasant thing to experience.

I suppose I have little other options in this place.

No, the night took him. But only because other people wouldn't help me.

And in this place, you've got plenty of people to help you.

You are a brave man, it seems. To do such a thing was most heroic.

Yes. The many wardens often work together.

You... never leave a member of the collective behind. I wasn't trying to be a hero, just trying to help him.

It's important to cooperate and not... worship the me too much.
